What is AHA skin care?

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are naturally occurring acids found in fruits, such as berries. They are often used in face scrubs and face masks to gently exfoliate the skin, leaving it smoother, softer, and more radiant.

A great example of an AHA beauty product is our AHA Radiance Peel Mask. This rinse-off mask uses a complex of 5 natural AHAs derived from ingredients including Bilberry, Orange and Lemon.

A great product for smoothing your complexion ahead of using fake tan, this pampering AHA face mask is also a great self-care skin care treat when skin feels dull or dry and loses its glow.

How to use an AHA face mask

Applying Age Defy+ Aha Radiance Peel Mask 30ml

Applying our AHA face mask is easy. It’s not a good idea to over exfoliate your skin so you are best using your AHA face mask just once or twice a week, using the following the application steps:

  • Step 1: Thoroughly cleanse the skin
  • Step 2: Apply a thin layer of the AHA product to your face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
  • Step 3: Allow the product to sit on your skin for 10-15 minutes, or less if your skin is sensitive.
  • Step 4: Gently rinse the product off to reveal velvet soft skin

What to use after AHA skin care

After using AHA skin care, it is important to moisturise the skin with a cream that supports skin hydration and strengthens barrier function.

If you use the AHA face mask at night, prolong its skin-softening effects by applying our Age Defy+ Hydra-Glow Sleep Mask before bed.

Designed to sink deep and support skin’s its nightly repair processes, this silky sleep mask delivers intense hydration so that you wake up to beautifully soft, glowing skin.

Shop SPFs for post-AHA protection

If you are spending time outside after exfoliating your skin with an AHA face mask, it is best to protect your freshly exfoliated skin with a gentle but effective SPF face cream.

All Green People facial sun creams offer broad spectrum protection against UVA & UVB sun rays. For the best protection, choose high-factor SPF protection.

Here are some of our favourite facial SPFs to use following AHA skin care.

Is your AHA skin care suitable for everyone?

Our AHA face mask is suitable for use during pregnancy and can even be used by people with sensitive skin.

To make our AHA skin care suitable for all skin types, we infuse the formulation with Aloe Vera, a skin-soothing natural active which helps to protecting against irritation.
